Symmetry & Balance

Photography:  A rhythmic language of light, shadow, texture, and shape.
Balance is achieved with the creative combining of these elements.
Spatial construction is employed to bring harmony and to convey the idea,
impression, and feeling of the final image.

Biaxial symmetrical balance:
-Arranging visually equal elements in each of the four quadrants.

Asymmetrical balance.

Axial symmetrical balance:
- Arranging visually equal elements on both sides of a single axis.

Contour and Linear Balance.

Gestalt is a psychology term which means "unified whole". It refers to theories of visual perception developed by German psychologists in the 1920s. These theories attempt to describe how people tend to organize visual elements into groups or unified wholes when certain principles are applied.
