Savannah

Savannah, Georgia

Gracious antebellum homes and impeccable manners, southern charm and architectural integrity describe Savannah, an enchanting city fiercely proud of its history and unique way of life, ones not found in many other locations in the United States. Strolling the two and a half square mile Historic District, an example of civic pride and restoration for the rest of the country, is a step back to a time when men bowed and ladies fainted on a regular basis. This famous District is comprised of 23 distinct squares, each surrounded by homes, businesses and churches. Charming bed and breakfasts dot the city, and visitors will find plenty to enjoy here. Of course, the city's most famous visitor was General William Tecumseh Sherman, arriving in 1864 after burning his way from Atlanta to the Sea. Savannah was spared Sherman's wrath, and today, thanks to a citizenry devoted to preserving its past, flourishes as an elegant historical gem.

The Savannah Music Festival is dedicated to presenting a world-class celebration of the musical arts by creating timeless and adventurous productions that stimulate arts education, foster economic growth, and unite artists and audiences in Savannah. It is the largest musical arts event in Georgia and one of the most distinctive cross-genre music festivals in the world.
